about the artist

Hello! My name is Chloe Kosnik, and my journey as an artist began long before I graduated from Colgate University and entered the marketing world.

What started as a passion for fine art has since evolved into a career where I merge visual creativity with brand strategy, transforming cultural insights and consumer behavior into compelling, visually driven stories for brands.

Post-Colgate: Applying Visual Creativity in Brand Strategy & Innovation

Since graduating from Colgate, I have been working at a marketing agency where I use my visual creativity to shape brand strategy and drive innovation. My role allows me to combine strategic thinking with a strong visual sensibility, ensuring brands connect meaningfully with consumers – especially through the lens of Gen Z relevance.

Bringing Strategy to Life Visually

Concept & Mood Boards: I develop visual mood boards that translate abstract brand positioning into worlds clients can instantly see and connect with.

Positioning Territories & Platforms: I have built visual strategies for brands that capture tone, personality, and activation possibilities.

Consumer & Cultural Insight Visualization

Personas & Journeys: I’ve supported the design of visually rich personas and consumer journeys, helping clients understand brand targets more clearly.

Trend Scanning: I’ve created trend decks that capture cultural shifts visually – whether it’s farm-to-table minimalism, peak protein lifestyles, or new expressions of beauty and wellness.

Workshop Tools: I aid in designing collaborative canvases and templates that bring energy and structure to ideation and co-creation sessions.

Client & Consumer Communication & Influence

Deck Design & Visual Storytelling: I’ve honed strong PowerPoint skills, using visuals to make strategy presentations compelling and accessible.

Prototyping Big Ideas: I produce shelf mock-ups and social feeds that show how abstract ideas can live in the real world.

Cross-Category Experience

My work spans industries including beauty & personal care, food & beverage, pharma, technology and alcohol. Each category has sharpened my ability to decode visual language and cultural codes while tailoring strategies that resonate with consumers today.

Foundation in Art & Visual Language

My background in fine art – from AP Studio Art through my Studio Art & Art History minor at Colgate – continues to inform my work. My years of studying light, texture, portraiture, and composition help me craft visual strategies that are not only engaging but deeply attuned to how design communicates meaning.

Art At Colgate...

As a student at Colgate University, I continued to maintain an interest in eyes and portraiture but have also broadened my scope of subjects and the mediums that I worked within. Though I was an English major (and later dual Art major) and dedicated a significant amount of my courseload in my first two years of college to literature-based courses, I was able to find room for art courses in my schedule. Art-wise, I took numerous art history courses, and Studio Art, Drawing, Costume Design, Scenic Design, and Advanced Projects in Studio Art as a senior.

In my Studio Art class as a freshman, I became more comfortable with charcoal and was interested in how it could intensify the subject in relation to my graphite drawings. The drawing class that I took sophomore fall semester had the greatest impact on my portfolio, my interest in art, and my confidence as an artist. In this class, I drew a wide variety of subjects such as interior spaces, decaying objects, still lives, and of course, a giant 5-foot self-portrait. With my prior knowledge of drawing techniques, I chose to focus on creating interesting compositions and increasing my level of realism and detail in my pieces while also adding my own creative approach to the prompts.

In addition to traditional media, I also developed an interest in digital art and graphic design. Learning to draw on Procreate introduced me to a new level of realism and flexibility, while also opening up space for more abstract and conceptual projects. Digital tools not only allowed me to refine detail but also to experiment with ideas in a way that pushed my work into more theoretical territory – where realism, abstraction, and design could intersect. This experience marked an important shift in my practice, showing me how digital mediums can expand the boundaries of both representation and artistic expression.

EARLY FOUNDATIONS AT DARIEN HIGHSCHOOL

My serious interest in art began as a student at Darien High School where I took AP Studio Art, Art Foundations, Clay Sculpture, Drawing and Painting 1, 2, and 3 Honors and Honors Art. My AP Studio Art concentration was centered around the ways in which light reflects off of the human face creating shadows and highlights as well as how different textures in the environment can cause various intricate reflections on the face.

Throughout my drawings, I specifically focused on eyes and how light was reflected off of or captured in my different subject's eyes. From the first to the last piece within this concentration, the eyes increasingly stood out as the focal point of the piece whether it be by me enhancing their level of detail or, like in the later pieces, the inclusion of their realistic color using colored pencil that contrasted with the rest of the graphite portrait.

Materials

Throughout my website, I have included a variety of mediums: acrylic, watercolor, oil pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, pen, pencil, and digital art.
